Research topics: the issue of ideology as the system of values and manipulation in different types of translation, translation as an example of cross-cultural communication, reading the culture of the Other through translation, the Spanish Conquest chronicles and their contemporary translations into Polish, critical reading of the Polish texts devoted to Latin American cultural issues, Chicano/a literature in translation.
Main activities in the CoLing Project: pursuing in learning the Nahuatl language with native speakers at the Instituto de Docencia e Investigación Etnológica de Zacatecas and with the lay users in specific social community situations and every day activities. The basic aim is to investigate the differences between the Nahuatl and the European languages, especially Romance and Slavonic languages, as far as the “linguistic picture of the world” is concerned, i.e. categorisation and semantisation due to the culture specificity and visible at the level of grammar, vocabulary, word formation, etymology, and connotation.
Timeline of the research in the CoLing Project: two secondments at the Instituto de Docencia e Investigación Etnológica de Zacatecas (Mexico) and fieldwork in Tecomate, Veracruz, in the years 2019-2021.
