Dn. 24 listopada 2019 w ramach Tygodnia Różnorodności Językowej Wydział “Artes Liberales” wspólnie z Uniwersytetem Dzieci organizują warsztaty pt. “Glify Majów bez tajemnic!” dla młodzieży w wieku 12-16 lat. Celem warsztatów jest pokazanie różnorodności kulturowej poprzez naukę liczenia i pisania w systemie opartym na całkowicie innych założeniach i rozwiniętym w izolacji od kultury europejskiej. Uczestnicy poznają główne osiągnięcia cywilizacji Majów, nauczą się liczyć w dwudziestkowym systemie kalendarzowym Majów oraz poznają podstawy majańskiej ortografii. Zajęcia odbędą się w oparciu o autorskie materiały przygotowane przez językoznawcę i metodyka Agnieszkę Hamann w ramach projektu COLING “Reclaiming Maya glyphic writing tradition as part of participatory historical culture”.

On November 24, 2019, as part of the Linguistic Diversity Week, the Faculty of Artes Liberales, University of Warsaw, and Children’s University Foundation organize workshop entitled “Maya glyphs without secrets!” for kids aged 12-16. The aim of the workshop is to showcase the cultural diversity of humanity by learning to count and write in a system based on very different assumptions and developed in a complete isolation from Europe. Participants will get familiar with the main achievements of the Maya civilization, counting in the Maya calendric vigesimal system and the basics of Maya glyphic ortography.  The workshop will be based on original materials developed by the linguist and teacher Agnieszka Hamann as part of the COLING project “Reclaiming Maya glyphic writing tradition as part of participatory historical culture”.
