Edukacja w swoim własnym języku powinna być dostępna dla każdego. W długofalowej perspektywie gwarantuje lepsze szanse życiowe dzieciom oraz sprzyja utrzymaniu się w systemie edukacji. Jednak na świecie aż 40% ludzi zmuszonych jest do uczenia się w innym języku, niż ten wyniesiony z domu. Ponadto dla języków mniejszości oraz zagrożonych obecność nauczania to często szansa na przetrwanie. O tych oraz innych tematach związanych z językami edukacji porozmawiają nasi goście.

Education in one’s mother tongue should be available to everyone. However as many as 40% of people are forced to learn in a language other than that spoken at home. Research demonstrates that in the long term, learning in one’s own language guarantees better life chances for children and helps them to remain in the education system. Moreover, when students are given the opportunity to learn in minority and endangered languages, it provides another avenue for the language itself to survive. These and other topics related to the languages of education will be discussed by our guests.

is an award winning Scotland based documentary film maker and academic. His most recent feature film, Colours of the Alphabet continues his filmmaking on the often subtle, intimate and increasingly political dynamics of language and society, that he has previously explored in award-winning short documentary films. His film-based research also explores subjects surrounding multilingualism, linguistic anthropology, and audiovisual translation. His films have been released in over 40 languages, broadcast in more than 50 countries and screen regularly at film festivals around the world. Justyna Majerska-Sznajder ukończyła zarządzanie kulturą oraz etnologię na Uniwersytecie Jagiellońskim w Krakowie. Jest doktorantką na Wydziale „Artes Liberales” Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego. Od dzieciństwa zajmuje się rewitalizacją kultury Wymysiöeryś w swoim rodzinnym mieście Wilamowice. Uczy Wymysiöeryś w lokalnej szkole i w domu.

has graduated with a degree in Culture Management and from Ethnology at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow. She is a PhD student at the Faculty of “Artes Liberales” at the University of Warsaw. Since childhood, she has been involved in the revitalization of Wymysiöeryś culture in her hometown Wilamowice. She teaches Wymysiöeryś at the local school and at the home.
