HOW TO CREATE A MUSEUM SPACE THAT WELCOMES AND SUPPORTS REFUGEES AND IMMIGRANTS

Refugees and immigrants are highly vulnerable groups, requiring specific preparations and knowledge to effectively engage them and implement activities that aid their integration into the local community. Our objective is to provide practical tools that utilize a culturally sensitive approach, enabling museum representatives to organize activities in a more streamlined and efficient manner.

While our focus is on providing recommendations tailored towards refugees from Ukraine, our resources can be broadly applied to other groups as well. We recognize the significance of creating a welcoming and inclusive space for all individuals, and our hope is that our guidance can make a difference in achieving that goal. By applying a cultural sensitivity approach to the museum space, you can create meaningful and inclusive experiences that address the unique needs and interests of this community.

A Traditional Ukrainian Calendar is a useful tool for organizing and scheduling activity programs for Ukrainian refugee children and their caregivers. It is important to note that the calendar does not encompass all traditional holidays or significant dates. However, the calendar can be utilized more broadly to include local events, as well as significant dates for various languages and minority groups.
